Love them or loathe them, frills and ruffles are everywhere for Spring 2017 (and all the way through Winter 2017) so you may need to learn to embrace them!

frill and ruffle

You can’t turn a corner right now without hitting a ruffle or a frill on a sleeve end, a shoulder, a placket, a collar or a hem! Frills and ruffles are here to stay so follow our tips for wearing and have a look at some of our favourites.

Tips for wearing:
  • Don’t over-complicate your outfit by wearing every piece with a ruffle in it. Wearing ruffle upon ruffle you’ll end up looking like you’re wearing a massive 80s ra-ra skirt – it’s not a good look!
  • Be careful to balance out your shape so if you choose a ruffle-sleeved or ruffle-hemmed top then opt for a straighter leg trouser or non-flared skirt for the bottom half. Have a look at our Baum und Pferdgarten Carmel Tops.

To counteract this, opt for a waist-nipping trouser and slim leg to balance out the blousy effect.Baum und Pferdgarten Marylou Blouse
  • The ruffled placket is a neater version of the frilled placket and sits wholly inside your natural shoulder line – it’s an incredibly smart and sassy look. Check out our Baum und Pferdgarten Cascadia Top with its shimmery neat ruffled placket. This style suits most shapes and is a good way to adopt this look for those with a larger bust. Baum und Pferdgarten Cascadia Top Bubblegum BoxBaum und Pferdgarten Cascadia Top Eden Green
  • Embrace your inner Bardot! The off-the-shoulder frill is still around, and is a summer favourite way of wearing a frill without even realising that you are! Our ICHI Marrakech tops are in a lovely lightweight cloth that does not sag on the shoulders, but instead nicely holds up the top in the classic Bardot shape. These tops gently hug the body shape without being tight so any lumps and bumps remain hidden! Team this style with a fitted short or cropped trouser and plenty of layering tassels. ICHI Marrakech Top
